2008 in review

A new year, a new semester, a new post.

Seriously, my apologies to those who have checked the blog in the past few weeks. It's not that we have been really busy but honestly, we've been really lazy which I count as one of the finer things in life and have taken it to a pure art form.

2008 review:

Books read:
The Kite Runner by Khaled Housseini
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
The Power and Protection of Spiritual Authority by Robert Marshall
Crazy Love by Francis Chan
The Cost of Discipleship by Deitrich Bonhoeffer
Sit, Walk, Stand by Watchman Nee
These were not all the books that I read but they are the books that I remember reading as I am sitting down to type this blog entry.

Albums enjoyed (each of these albums were released in 2008):
The Suckerpunch Show by Lovedrug
You are my Sunshine by Copeland
Only by the Night by Kings of Leon
Illuminate by Lydia
Mending by The New Frontiers
Dialog by Paper Rival
Gossip in the Grain by Ray Lamontagne
Way to Normal by Ben Folds
Narrow Stairs by Death Cab for Cutie
White Lights EP by Deas Vail

2008 was a good year for Rachael and I. We both started new jobs, mine at the same place and hers after she graduated from the University of Utah. Rachael is loving her job and despite some difficult patients and corporate mumbo jumbo, she has more good things to say about her work than bad. I am loving my job as worship pastor at HBC. I have received a lot of good feedback from both of our services and it has been overwhelmingly positive.

As I look back on 2008, I can't help but see how God takes care of his own. There are times when you think that you are walking alone, and at the risk of sounding cliche, He's right there all the time. God has a plan for us and it has been amazing to see how God is working in our lives and also in the lives of our church congregation. Things have not been easy but they have been good. We are truly blessed to be where God has us.

I'll post again with some holiday pics.
